95 - It's not over 'til it's over

it's 733 pm on november 4th and most of the people i know have voted. Huzzah!
at dinner i was sitting with this girl who used to live in Japan and she asked me when we'll know who the new president is and i told her that i truthfully don't know. "they close the polls and start counting tonight. we won't know until they've finished counting," i said, truthfully. i've heard tell of people in virginia who had to stand out in the pouring rain because the line to the polls went out the door. by the time they got inside they were soaked, but determined and took the paper ballots to vote. but because they were so wet, they dampened the paper and the scanning machines couldn't read their votes! i don't know what they're going to do about that... but that's just one example of all the crazy stuff happening at the polls this year. i also heard that Joe the Plumber got hit by some guy when he went to vote. That's purely hearsay, understand.
i have a feeling that this is going to be one long count. remember the recounts of last election year? ditto that, my friends, ditto that.

i'm going to go off in search of something to temporarily lift our spirits.

I did it! I found her - the woman who makes my heart giggle with joy. (hearts can too giggle.)
This time, she's covering The View! (Warning: this link takes you to a video in which Sarah Haskins discusses The View, the ladies on which discuss politics. This is not, repeat NOT a political-free zone)

For those of you who want absolutely nothing to do with the election anymore:

In honor of Joni Mitchell's 65th birthday last Friday (!!) I will post this beautiful painting she created. Original rumored to be owned by Rosie O'Donnel. (?)

OK, I caved, more political stuff.
If you
a) plan on staying up to hear pundits discuss things while the count is going on
and
b) can legally drink
and
c) don't feel like waiting for the announcement of the next Pres. of the Un. St. while sober
i felt free to copy/paste this here drinking game from jezebel.com
(the jezzy original is "Sip or Strip" but I'm not condoning any taking off of clothes on here. The people who always read my blog and can legally drink are mainly comprised of...my mother. So, yeah...)

Sip:

  • If Joe the Plumber makes an appearance
  • Every time the term "Troopergate" is mentioned
  • Anytime Tina Fey is discussed, or if footage of her as Palin is shown
  • If someone from Ohio is interviewed
  • Every time the word "maverick" is uttered
  • Every time the term "battleground state" is uttered
  • When a "battleground state" has been decided
  • If you see footage of Palin walking around in those black boots
  • Whenever The View or any of its panel members are discussed
  • Whenever CNN's John King starts playing on his board

Sip twice:

  • If a swing state goes blue
  • If you correctly call a state

Finish your drink:

  • If this thing gets called by 8 PM
HA!
be safe everyone. I'll see you tomorrow, after the world is finished changing.
